“You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.”
Matthew 5:13a, 14a
Hey there… I am soooo glad you’re here. Before you read on I want to tell you something. YOU are salt of the earth. YOU are a light to the world. You may not realize it, you may not believe it—but I do. People notice. People log away in their mind of the things you do, what you say, how you live, and how you imitate Christ. I just want you to know, that, if you feel discouraged, downtrodden, or puny right now, you really aren’t. Satan is the master of lies, and he knows EXACTLY how to bring you down. YOU make a difference in people’s lives, and God sees that. And He will reward you openly when the time comes.
Today I have something to share with you that really gets me excited! Here’s a little backstory before we jump into it:
Recently, I have noticed that my prayer life is almost non-existent. It’s something I’ve recognized as REALLY important, and I knew it needed to change immediately. So, the last night, I just started writing on “how to pray.” I know that sounds weird: “how to pray,” but for me, it really helped to have guidelines on what I was going to bring to God in prayer. Starting by writing bullet-points, and then title words with each section, and then bible verses along those sections, I was like, “OKAY. I NEED TO SHARE THIS.” I seriously got so excited—I mean—I still am of course ;).
At this point, I had four sections of “how to pray,” each with a subject word that started the section—like an acronym. It kind of looked jumbled and unorganized, (if you know me, I realllly like to be organized), so I took a step back and thought about it for a sec—thinking of a good acronym. And for some reason God TOTALLY reminded me of Matthew 5:13-14. And my acronym was literally one letter away from S.A.L.T. *Insert mind-blown emoji here* (This is probably where I got REALLY excited.) So, there it is. Awesomeness. As you read on, I’ll show you the entire acronym and bible verses to go with it.
I hope and pray this will encourage you if you’re struggling with prayer too! We all have highs and lows, and it’s a journey we’re all taking in growing closer to God. <3
I hope you write this out–don’t print–write. This way you can log it in your mind, and remember. Keep it in your bible, or on your bathroom mirror, or in your car. Wherever! For me, this is great because I have to drive an hour and a half every day– what better time to pray!
God is with you wherever you go, and this is a great reminder to talk to Him.
I dearly hope this encourages you today! Even if you don’t use it, just to know that you’re not alone– is huge.
