Hang eucalyptus

My room officially smells like a candle now. I’ve always loved how eucalyptus looks (it’s in my logo, so that must say something!), but did you know it has a dual purpose? By hanging eucalyptus in the shower, the hot steam activates the oils to release, which helps with congestion, headaches, inflammation, stress, and muscle tightness. Not to mention it smells great too. Live eucalyptus branches are easy to find at your local Michaels store.

Create a vision board (or two)

There’s an 85% chance your goals will come to fruition if you write them down. Crazy, right?! Time to dream– and to encourage! My vision board is a mixture of dreams & aspirations, (family, fitness, community, marriage, etc.) and encouragement, like my favorite Bible verses. Because, really, it’s not always easy and there WILL be hard times while working towards your goals– so encourage yourself along the way!

So go find your scrap paper & old markers and get to work. Print some pictures, or get out the paint. Have fun with the process! And finally, hang it up somewhere you see it everyday. Let it encourage and inspire you as you reach for your goals.

Renovate your closet

Although I’m sure everyone has an unique dresser and closet situation, I believe most of us have a similar drawer-type dresser and hanging-type closet that can fit inside each other. To save on space, put your dresser inside your closet and place your shoes around it. My dresser is long and somewhat short in height, so I’m able to still hang my clothes and place my shoes on top of my dresser– so they’re almost out of sight as well. It’s great for saving space in the rest of your room.

Another thing I love about my closet is curtains! I have simple, white cotton curtains that are hung on a curtain rod that sticks in the original place for sliding doors.

Lastly, go through your clothes MONTHLY. Although I clean and tidy throughout the week (most of the time), I save one day a month to deep clean and declutter everything– especially clothes. Not that I go clothes shopping often, but the more I declutter, the more I realize how much I don’t wear certain items of clothing. Another great idea is setting a number of hangers you can have in your closet! Meaning, if you buy a two new shirts, you have to give away or sell two old shirts.

Make mirror notes

I am very much a “checklist person,” so I love making mirror notes in my bathroom. It’s a simple and easy way to remind me of things to do, people to talk to, or verses to encourage me. My biggest reminders are: “water plants, take vitamins, and choose joy.” Although I still killed my cactus… but let’s not dwell on that…

Dry-erase markers work just fine to write notes and scribbles on your mirror. I also love putting my goals on there as well!

Make your bed

If you’re like me, you probably feel like there was no reason to make your bed. Or maybe you make your bed everyday already– cool! You are my model. Believe or not, making your bed is very important for a few reasons… Here’s why I made it a daily habit:

  1. It’s the first task of the day. Something as simple as making your bed in the morning could trigger you to complete other tasks more efficiently, making your entire day much more productive and meaningful. As told on The Huffington Post, Navy Seal William H. McCraven stated during his commencement speech at the University of Texas, “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.” (Simpler Recovery, March 12, 2018)
  2. It makes you a happier person. Interestingly enough, according to Psychology Today, 72% of bed-makers say they’re happy, while 62% of non-bed-makers say they’re unhappy.
  3. It helps you keep your area clean. Making your bed everyday can subconsciously encourage you to keep the rest of your living space tidy. Works for me!

Shake it up

If you don’t use this nutritional program, you are missing out! IsAgenix has changed my life. Not joking– I have energy, I’ve lost those sticky pounds, and my muscles now have the fuel they so badly need to reach my goals! I feel like a new human. If you haven’t tried it, and want to give your health a shot, I’d LOVE to help you reach your health goals.

Maybe you’re already using IsAgenix! If so, here’s a few ideas to brighten up your shakes! If you don’t already, I would recommend blending your shake with ice to make it a little thicker. And if you desire, add some fiber! Here’s a few of my favorite toppings…

Get a bullet blender

Whether you drink protein shakes or smoothies, a bullet blender saves soooo much time and energy! Super quick at blending your potion, and with a very minimal clean up, it saves my bacon every morning. My amazing nutritional program sells a specific bullet blender that has the same thread to my shaker bottles, so I don’t even have to transfer the protein shake to a different cup! No more trying to get that last bit out of the Vita-mix with a spatula, or a long cleaning process. Definitely worth it!

Use cleansing oil

Believe it or not from the title, cleansing oil is for your FACE. For the past month or so, I’ve been trying Primally Pure’s Cleansing Oil for oily skin. And it’s been amazing so far! It’s a little bit of a different process than the usual face wash, but I’ve been loving it. Made from all natural ingredients, you can actually READ what they put in it. No artificial ingredients or chemicals– instead it’s made from castor oil and essential oils.

Cleansing oil also serves as a make up remover, moisturizer, and eyelash booster. Very easy & quick to use, and leaves my face moisturized and clean.

Budget w/ EveryDollar

Budgeting my finances has been a work in progress for a long time. But I have finally found a solution that has been working really well! I use the EveryDollar app by Dave Ramsey and it’s been a game changer. Here’s how it works: you enter your monthly income and make budgets for general expenses, savings, and funds. As you spend money, it’s your responsibility to enter your expenses into the app– it automatically adds/subtracts and you can see how much you have left or have already spent. There are also options to set goals, create your own categories, and set up recurring expenses.

It’s totally free, but if you choose to subscribe, you can pay a small monthly fee to have your transactions automatically entered from your debit/credit cards. I’ve tried a lot of budget apps in the past year and none of them have worked like EveryDollar! I’m actually excited to be more disciplined in my finances & see my goals come true.
